Yay! I didn't miss any classes today, an all time record for me here in Denmark. Okay, it's not much of an achievement but it's improvement. There are no interesting pictures to post today, so you'll just have to use your imagination. The classes I went to today were all very interesting and I am excited to get started. The first was integrated sustainability, where we looked at a case study of Forum Chriesbach. Okay, here's a picture.
It's a really interesting building, but I won't go into details. I met up with my Danish class at for cafe night. Free Food!! Why not?! Apparently they also have student discounts for half price sandwiches on Wednesday and Sunday, so that's where I'll be getting my food for a while. They also had rhubarb soda. It was actually really good.
I bet these little cafe shops must get so much business from DIS not just from these events, but as a way to introduce students to places to go to, and as someone who doesn't really know the city, they definitely have my business until I find somewhere better. But the food was good.
At the dinner, I met the professor and some Danes from the Buddy Network. I keep hearing that Danes really don't do the whole, "how are you?" thing. Because when they hear that they really want to respond to it, a start of an actual conversation so to speak. Not just a greeting to fill in the gap when passing by someone you know. They also aren't very talkative at first, but if you get them started, they go! I feel like I'm the same way or at least was. I'm the type of person that I have to warm up to really get me going. But if you ask me questions I'll gladly answer if I know the answer, or at least a way to find it. I'm a closet Dane.
Again, I'm just going to complain about being sick here, so if you don't want to read, now's a good time to stop. I feel like my cold is going in the reverse order that it usually does. First, I typically get the sore throat. That happened. Then I get a dry cough, and then the flem comes. I went backwards and to top it, it came with a fever. So I haven't been feeling to hot, not in the literal sense. But there's really no way out because I have to go to classes, and the cold weather isn't really doing much for me. Apparently, the Danes don't have cold medicine, but they do have medicine to manage symptoms like sore throats and nasal congestion. When I asked the Dane from the Buddy network what people do when they are sick, she said they are sick all the time......Great. Hopefully this will pass soon, but at this rate, its not looking too good.
Off to do my load of homework. Yes, I am here for school.
