In my attempts to capture and remember memories that will eventually fade, I made this blog to write down details of my adventures as well as keep my family and friends updated on what I am doing. I apologize if the posts get a bit lengthy without photos. Enjoy!

The top of the tower

So Eiffel tower take two! We were determined to get up to the top of the tower today so we woke up early to get there. It actually tookk us an hour to commute from the hostel. When we got there the line extended all the way to the end of the block, this didn't include the winding at the beginning of the line, the wait would be for two hours. Little did we know, there were two lines, one for the elevator up and the other for stairs. The stairs line was considerably shorter, so we opted for that. How many people can say they climbed the Eiffel Tower. So we finally entered the North leg of the tower. The security guards were kind of funny and Sarah and I don't know what to think about it. I was greeted nicely with a, how are you? But Sarah was asked if she was Chinese. Why? Because she has small eyes, and he pulled his eyes apart to make them smaller. What?!

Anyway, we made our way towards the top and to get to the second tier of the tower it took 670 steps. It was awesome. Then an elevator to the top. I was doing alright until the elevator ride. It just kept going higher and higher, with seemingly no end. But we got there. And had to walk up another flight of stairs. We hit the platform and it kind of popped below my feet. You know, how bottle caps kind of pop when you open it. That was the start of my nerves gathering. I could barely get myself to go to the edge to take a picture. The pictures didn't even turn out that great because it was so cloudy out. On the way down was the same. My sense of perception was down, so I was feeling some vertigo, which made my descent a little slower thanit ought to have been.

We met Jomi after at the Arc de Triomph and walked down the Champs de Élysées. Passed by a few car dealerships and went in to try them out.

Got to the Louvre Museum with 15 minutes to spare got in for free, it's soo good to be a student in Paris.. And saw the Mona Lisa. But it's awful, there are so many people crowded around it trying to get a picture that you can't really appreciate the painting at all. But with that said, I was definitely one of those people. I will post my picture to prove it. :)

Jomi had to leave to have dinner with her host family, so we went around on our own. I must say, I had my doubts about the Paris public transportation system. But it's pretty efficient and easy to understand. But they are in the process of upgrading their system and it just seems like it will definitely take a while.

And finally, to top off this beautiful day with beautiful weather, I got a French pastry. A fruit tart, if that's at all uniquely French. It was delicious.
